2020 Girls Of AVN

I have not been able to consume enough caffeine today to write this post, but I keep trying. My brain is just not functioning because I haven’t had a good night of sleep in a week. Hopefully these photos will speak for themselves, but I know this is a post people look forward to every year so I gotta get this published. Instead of writing something thoughtful I am just gonna go through the gallery in order and tell you who everyone is and give you whatever info I think you might need and hopefully my 5th cup of coffee will kick in by the time I’m done. Let’s go.

First up is Keira Croft. I ended up going down to AVN a day earlier than planned and didn’t have a hotel booked. Coincidentally she had an extra bed in her room and she heroically let me crash. We of course had to shoot as well even though the light was pretty gross in her room. I also shot her getting ready in the morning and shooting porn girls in real life situations is honestly why I come to Vegas every year. Oh and I took some photos of her for another project as well, but keeping that a secret for now.

Next up is my buddy April O’Neil. She’s one of my favorite people to shoot and there is a whole gallery of this shoot coming soon, but for now you just get a little teaser. We shot on the balcony of her hotel which had a great view nut I am pretty sure the neighbors had an even better view.

Next is Kyaa. I met her in the casino at like 3am and she pretty much demanded that I take her number and take her photo. I wasn’t going to say no. She is very intimidating. Also coincidentally she’s super cool looking and we took some really fun photos in the courtyard of my hotel so it worked out very well.

The second night I was in Vegas I ran into Aiden Ashley. We had just done a really amazing shoot in LA, probably the best thing I have shot in months, and she introduced me to her friend Lucid. She was like “you should shoot with Igor” and Lucid said “okay”, and so I said “let’s get you guys naked in the parking garage right now” and so that’s what we did. Aiden got stuck in a trash can and they took a bunch of extra NSFW photos you can only see on the Girls of Driven By Boredom.

Later that same night, at like 4am, my friend Claudia Cho texted me to see what was going on. I didn’t even know she was in town until I saw on the internets that she was in Vegas. She came over to my hotel room and we took like 15 photos in 8 minutes. I’m just glad I got to take some photos using the mirrors in my room.

The next day I went to take photos of a girl named Natalie that Carter Cruise introduced me too. I had eaten dinner with them sometime between the parking garage photos and the Claudia shots and we made plans for the morning. Natalie is a designer and not a naked person, she was just hanging with Carter but was down to take some photos. We shot a ton and it’s going to be a full set later so this is just a little preview. Super glad I met her and I hope to shoot her again soon!

Later that day I shot Siri who is someone I wanted to photograph a long time ago, but she briefly retired from the industry… for 5 years. Well she is back and had a pretty nice room at the Hard Rock so we shot her on the bed. This is another full set so enjoy the preview and I will be back eventually with all her photos.

The next day was the actual AVN Awards and I was trying to find someone to let me photograph them getting ready. I had just met Paige Owens and she was down but then realized she had fucked up her booking and had to stay with a friend that night. I went with her to drop off her bags and we ran into Gia DiMarco who is another person I had wanted to shoot and so we brought her with us back to my hotel to shoot. On the way I took two photos of Nadia White flashing me in her onsie and then did a quick shoot with Gia and Paige which is a really weird thing to write given that my ex-girlfriend is named Gia Paige. Anyway, we only had like 15 min before Gia had to leave and I think we got some really nice stuff considering. Paige stuck around and did her hair naked and so I took photos of that because I am a goddamn professional.

After that I had a bunch of shoots cancel and the awards were over and I was real grumpy about being in town for two extra days without shooting. The Wood Rocket Brunch on Sunday was fun and I hung out with those guys on Monday too, but I had 3 rolls of film to finish before I got on a plane and no one to shoot. Fortunately Aiden Ashley had introduced me to another friend this week, and that was Alex Grey. I had wanted to take Alex’s photo forever but I had only once met her and it was very briefly. I had tried taking her photo all week but she was very busy with AVN stuff. On Monday she wanted to shoot but her car got a flat tire and it was taking her all day to deal with it. I figured she was just blowing me off but she finally texted me and I met up with her at the actual tire shop. Her friend was with her and we all got in his pick up truck and drove about 100 yards from the tire shop into a gravel pit and did a photoshoot in 10 minutes as the sun went down. I finished off all three rolls and we took some great photos considering the time. She also let me shoot her without make up and her hair totally crazy which I very much appreciated. So glad we shot and I can’t wait to do it again. We actually got so many photos between film and digital that I am gonna make this a separate set as well. So enjoy the preview and look forward to that.

Apparently the caffeine finally hit because this is over 1100 words and still need to plug Girls of Driven By Boredom. These photos have been on Girls of DBB since yesterday and there are more than 25 bonus shots that are too extra to be posted on here. This gallery is massive to begin with so you probably want to see these in high resolution with “hands free navigation”. Just saying. Sign up already.

Okay, so let’s end this and be done with AVN for another year!

New Project: Vacation Photos Album

More than a month ago I had this idea. I wanted to go to Vegas to photograph a few models there and I couldn’t really afford the trip. I remembered a few years ago I made this “What Happens in Vegas” photo album to pay for a trip to Vegas and I thought maybe I should do a second edition of it. And then I started thinking about other ideas and I ended up with the idea of doing a “Vacation Photos” photo album, but we will get to that in a second. I organized a good edit of photos, put it for sale in my Etsy store, and was getting ready to release it when my life fell apart. If you don’t want to be guilt tripped into buying stuff, feel free to skip a paragraph.

First my website got hacked and I was dealing with that for weeks. People suggested I should do a GoFundMe to pay for fixing it, but I always want people to get more than they pay for, even when just trying to support my work, and so I figured this Vacation Album would be a perfect way to pay for my website fees, so the project was still a go, and maybe I could just go to AVN in January a few days early. I was all ready to post about this when my roommate died. Aside from the trauma and depression from all of that I currently don’t have a roommate and the place is nowhere near ready to show. All her stuff is still here. Long story short, is that for all the people who wanted to help out with my website being fucked, or help with my other horrible situation, this is your chance. This album is fairly expensive, but buying anything from my store right now (or signing up for Girls of DBB) would help a lot.

Anyway, let’s talk about the “Vacation Photos” album. The album will be an actual old school photo album, one of the cheap corny looking ones that you would get at a 1 Hour Photo lab. I bought 10 of them already and they are a mix of different colors so each color will be super rare. Each album will contain 64 actual 4″x6″ prints of my 35mm road trip work. It will be a good mix of nudity and roadside attractions and landscapes. The idea is that you would put it on your coffee table and people would pick it up thinking it’s an actual photo album from a vacation, only it will have a bunch of porn stars getting naked in public in it. Each album will be hand titled and signed on the inside back cover. There will be a VERY limited number of these. The Vegas album ended up being an edition of only 15 and my plan is to do 10 of these unless I sell a bunch this week, but at $150 each I cannot imagine I am going to sell a ton. But they make one hell of an Xmas present. Oh, and they come with a free postcard!

Speaking of Christmas, my plan was to get these to people before Christmas and I am still going to try but it somewhat depends on my photo lab. I am going to finish the edit this weekend and send them to print Monday, so hopefully they will all go out on the 20th, but if not I will ship them on the 30th when I get back from seeing my family for the holidays.

Below I am going to post some examples of the type of photos you will see in this photo album, but keep in mind this isn’t the final edit. I would imagine most of these will make it in the album, but I haven’t made any decisions yet. There are a few more on Girls of DBB too.

So click here to buy a copy of Vacation Photos.

And click here to see a gallery of examples of photos that will end up in my Vacation Photos album.

New Instax Scans

A couple of years ago I published my largest book to date, Instaxxx, a collection of instant film nudes. It mostly was made up of Instax Wide photos but also included a number of Polaroid 600 and Spectra photos that I have been shooting since the late 90s. The first nudes I ever shot were on Polaroid and the 120 page book represented nearly 20 years of work with over 200 photographs.

Of course when I finished the book I didn’t stop shooting instant film. I have spent the last two years filling up box after box of new Instax and I plan on eventually publishing an update to Instaxxx, most likely in a smaller zine form. I recently started scanning some of the stuff I had shot recently and ended up scanning nearly 100 photos and I figured I would share some with you.

Theis gallery features more than 75 images, and there are a handful of extras on my paysite Girls of Driven By Boredom if you want to see some more stuff (in twice the resolution). It also features a massive amount of models so I can’t run through the whole list but there are a few people that show up in multiple images so I will list some of the models featured:  Bunny Colby, Khloe Kapri, Alex DeLaFlour, Rose Ryan, Kirra, Jane Wilde, Chloe Cherry, Jade Baker, Scout, April O’Neil, Karlee Grey, Abella Danger, Veronica Rose and many more.

You can get your copy of Instaxxx in the Driven By Boredom shop, including versions signed by some of the models listed above. Also, if you are interested in purchasing actual Instax from me I often have outtakes. Feel free to contact me if interested. Prices start at $50.

Driven By Boredom Turns 18

On Friday Driven By Boredom turned 18. I started the site sitting in my college dorm room at Penn State University. I was bored out of my mind and not really going to classes but I knew how to code basic HTML and I spent a lot of time talking to my friends back home on Instant Messenger. My brother had started a website so I figured I could too. I had built a couple in high school by hand but they were really simple, but Driven By Boredom was going to be something I could update every day. I had never heard the word blog, but on March 1st, 2001 my blog was born.

Over the years the site has seen a few redesigns (I have had this one since 2007 and it shows) but I have pretty consistently updated it almost that whole time. In 2003 I started managing a band and by 2005 Driven By Boredom was something I was barely ever working on other than to post info about the band. I tried to use Blogspot for a little bit but I only got a few updates in before I sort of abandoned it. In 2006 I moved to NYC and started taking photos in night clubs just because I was going out all the time and I take photos of everything. but party photography had become a thing and everyone was asking me where they could see the photos. So I convinced some friends to help me rebuild the site and we were back in business and I’ve been doing this every since.

Last year I forgot about the anniversary and had this whole plan to do a party or something for the 18th anniversary since my site is now old enough to look at my site, but I totally forgot again until a few days before and here we are days later and I still haven’t done anything for it. Not even an update until now.

I have spent way too much time trying to organize my life and not enough time out shooting. I guess winter is somewhat to blame, and I  have been working on my new book, but still I have been uninspired recently, and I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been doing anything so long. To combat this feeling I decided to venture outside last night in the middle of a snowstorm and shoot some photos. I wanted to feel productive, but I had already taken my sleeping pills. I figured I wouldn’t be out very long anyway so I said fuck it and went for a walk.

I didn’t shoot right around my apartment because I don’t want you psychopaths knowing where I live but I only walked a few blocks away so I guess you could just wait for me at the south Williamsburg post office or something if you wanted to murder me, so it’s whatever. But it was a lot of fun. I only was out for probably 30 minutes and I didn’t shoot very much but I still got a few nice shots and I figured I could share them with you because honestly I don’t even know what else to post today. So yeah, here’s a few photos of last night in a snow storm including a photo of a ConEd worker who was bored out of his mind sitting in a parked car guarding some sort of electrical problem. He must have had some interest in photography because he had a lot of questions about cameras, but then again he was probably just happy to talk to someone.

Anyway, happy birthday my website. Be back soon with some new April O’Neil photos…

Best Of 2014

These “Best of” posts keep coming as I slowly get all my images organized. The 2013 best of gallery was a bit of a turning point though because at some point during 2013 I got a little more organized and so a lot of the work is already done. It goes a lot faster. I am actually done with 2016 too but I will wait to post the best of 2015 first. But, not one bit of this is interesting so let’s start talking about the reason we are here: 2014.

I think I peaked as a photographer in 2014. I lost my favorite client in the middle of 2014 over some shit that I had very little to do with, and then my life sort of detonated in 2015. I have shot a bunch of stuff that I am fairly proud of since then, but looking back at the first half of 2014 I really shot some stuff I loved. My shoot with Raven Rockette at Rock-a-Hoola and my shoot with April O’Neil and Shay Laren at Murphy’s Ranch were two of my favorite shoots of all time and they happened in the same week!

Some other highlights of 2014 included following Hannibal Buress when he opened up for Aziz Ansari at Madison Square Garden, hanging out with Iggy Pop in Miami, and watching Joey Chestnut propose at the Coney Island hot dog eating contest. I got to shoot Motley Crue from a million miles away on their “last tour” and I got to shoot Miley Cyrus which was surprisingly enjoyable. I shot MIA and a hologram for a tequila and a ton of fun stuff for Sailor Jerry including the Sailor Jerry House at SXSW

I shot a ton of stuff for the Village Voice including two of my favorite assignments of all time, Antiques Roadshow and the Westminster Dog Show. I shot some festivals for them as well including 4 Knots, Fool’s Gold Day Off, and of course the Gathering of the Juggalos. The girl I was dating for a bunch of 2014 was a writer for the Voice and we covered a bunch of stuff together, but the one thing we did together that didn’t end up in the Voice was our trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. It was so fucking insane.

I feel like I got a couple more things left to mention before I let you guys get to the 300+ photos. 2014 Art Basel was the last time I went down there after I managed to somehow lose money. It was still a great trip though and I got to see a Dolphins game so I shouldn’t complain too much. I got to shoot John Amos for an article that I don’t think ever ran, but it was great to meet a legend like that. Speaking of legends I also got to shoot Robert Rodriguez, Robert Duvall and a bunch of other actors and directors not named Robert during the SXSW Film Fest including the cast of Silicon Valley. Oh, also I should mention that I shot this Rockabilly convention in Vegas incase you are wondering what all the insane haircuts are all about. Fair warning.

The one thing I hate about looking back on all these photos is seeing the people I will never see again. The last photo I ever took of Dust La Rock is in this gallery. My really good friend DJ Jess died three years ago this week. I feel like I don’t have a ton of photos of Spam because he was usually behind a bar working but I found a couple and included one in this gallery. My brother from another mother Denny is in this gallery too. Too many people gone.

Lastly, I  should mention that I only found one naked girl gallery I hadn’t published. That’s a good thing because I have way too many that I still need to publish. The one I did find was of a girl named Alison Faye who left the adult industry shortly after we shot and I just never got around to posting them. The set was fairly small anyway, so I just decided to upload the whole thing to Girls of Driven By Boredom so it’s there if you want to see it.

Okay, now click here look at this massive gallery of the best photos I took in 2014.

WoodRocket 5th Year Anniversary – 1.25.18

When I was in Vegas last week for the AVN Awards I had to stop by the WoodRocket 5th anniversary party. WoodRocket is the completely insane adult film company responsible for ridiculous porn parodies like Hamiltoe and Dick & Morty. The company is the brainchild of my friend Lee Roy Myers who once made a Simpsons porn parody where he painted all the actors yellow. Lee Roy and his team make so much weird, brilliant shit and have managed to make a living through sponsorships and selling merch without having to actually charge for their porn. The WoodRocket tagline is “The future of porn” and they are probably right.

When WoodRocket first launched I sat down with the WoodRocket crew and pitched a road trip video series. “Road Strip” helped me pay for my Route 66 road trip that led to my first book “Get Your Kicks”. If it weren’t for WoodRocket I never would have been able to do the trip. Years later I went on a West Coast road trip I shot a photo series that was sort of a continuation of Road Strip, just in still form. One of the girls I brought with me was April O’Neil who is a big part of the WoodRocket team, both starring and directing stuff for them.

Anyway, I love these guys (I had dinner with them instead of going to the actual AVN Awards) so I had to hit their 5 year anniversary party. They turned their studio into a museum to all their weird props and did some of their web series live including Topless Girls Reading books. Unfortunately I could only stay for about an hour so the gallery I posted is mostly just photos of the museum and a handful of party photos. Fortunately I did manage to get my friend Kasey Warner topless on a giant Nintendo console which was my only goal before I left. Oh, also my hero Lloyd Kafuman was there so that ruled.

Okay, this gallery is pretty small but it’s mildly NSFW and it’s a lot of fun so go check it out. And I got a real solid “Girls of AVN” gallery coming next so come back soon.

2017 AVN Awards – 1.21.17

I am back from my two week LA & Vegas trip and ready to get you some photos. I do this trip nearly every year around the Adult Video News Awards. I think I have shot the AVNs or at least the events around the AVNs every year since 2008. The trip is how I got started photographing people in the adult industry and now it’s become a good way to see friends, meet new models and make some money… plus with only a few hour drive to LA it’s a good excuse to hit up LA for a week without having to pay for a flight.

Given that the AVN Awards happened over a week ago I am clearly a bit late on these photos, but I shot them for the LA Weekly and posted that link everywhere so I figured that if you really wanted to see my AVN Awards coverage you had plenty of opportunities to do so. That being said, my edit is much bigger than the LA Weekly gallery and of course you don’t get to read a long, pointless, poorly written blog about it.

This year’s AVN’s were pretty cool because a lot of my friends won stuff. Adriana Chechik won Female Performer of the Year, Greg Lansky won back to back Director of the Year awards and my friends cleaned up the acting awards. Best supporting actress went to Joanna Angel and Xander Corvus won best actor. Best Actress went to Kleio Valentien who I actually helped get into porn many years ago after sending this 2009 photo shoot to Burning Angel! (Update: That gallery is broken for some reason but you can find it on Girls of DBB!)

Also it was hosted by Riley Reid (and Aspen Rae) and a bunch of other friends won awards too like my LA landlord Abella Danger who won best Star Showcase. Holly Hendrix won Best New Starlet and we aren’t friends yet but we talked about shooting soon so hopefully we will be by next AVN.  Oh, and Sgt Kabukiman NYPD was there and he’s pretty much family.

Okay, let’s get to these photos. My shots from the Adult Entertainment Expo will be up ASAP too.

Ps. Donate to my Kickstarter. Many AVN Awards winners are in the book.

PPs. Did I mention Flo Rida performed? He did. We got low.

Lil Brown Eyes For Wood Rocket

Part four of my five part collaboration with Wood Rocket is here and it’s a fun one! Lil Brown Eyes returns with a pool party shoot shot in Los Angeles and Bryan Gozzling’s place. If you haven’t been paying attention I shot 5 shoots for Wood Rocket as sort of a continuation of the Road Strip video series for them I did back in 2013. So far we have seen shoots from Lily LaBeau, Lucy Everleigh, April O’Neil and now Lil Brown Eyes. The final one is gonna feature not one but three girls so look for that soon!

This shoot with Lil Brown Eyes isn’t very well photographed. It was super bright out and the light was wildly harsh and I didn’t have anyone standing around with a bounce card or anything because let’s be honest I am barely a professional. That being said, LBE is fucking adorable, the pool is beautiful and how great do her hot pink heels go with that giant inflatable flamingo? Plus at the end of the party she cooked us food and the shots of her grilling corn are kinda fucking amazing thanks to her actually being in the shade a bit. I should also mention that she did her pseudo corpse paint make up like that because she kinda thought it would look hilarious with the sort of 80’s Penthouse vibe of the whole shoot. I wasn’t mad about it.

So all the photos are on Wood Rocket but I uploaded about 15 of them to this site just so there would be something on this site for the archives but clearly go to Wood Rocket instead of looking at them here. They are on Girls of DBB too but no reason to go there when you have them for free on Wood Rocket, BUT I should mention that there is a VERY NSFW shoot of LBE and her “daddy” Bryan Gozzling from the weekend I met them on Girls of DBB that is probably worth checking out if you are a fan of these photos.

Anyway, go look at the Lil Brown Eyes pool party photos on Wood Rocket now!

Clearing Out Inventory Sale

Sometime in the next week or two I should be launching a Kickstarter for my next book. I am going to be doing a nude Polaroid book (technically Instax Wide) and I am pretty excited about it because the rough edit I made is really solid. After publishing my recent zine and getting for the next book I decided it was time to organize all my old books and zines and get a good inventory of everything. I found out I am nearly out of a few items and have way too many of a few more. So here’s your last chance to get a few things and a chance to get a few other things cheap. Let’s go through everything!

  • Get Your Kicks – GYK was my first book and it sold out in a month. It’s been long gone and has sold for $100. If you had donated to it’s crowd funding it would have been yours for $20.
  • Dinner With Igor – My second book is all but sold out. There are 18 copies left and I am pulling a few of those for the Kickstarter so get yours now while you have the chance.
  • Food Tattoos – Food Tattoos was a stretch goal for the Dinner With Igor Kickstarter. Everyone who funded that Kickstarter got a copy for free. I only have 6 copies left so get yours now!
  • Fuck LA – I only made 50 copies for the LA Art Book Fair and it’s long gone. Although I do have one slightly damaged copy that April O’Neil signed if anyone is interested…
  • Same Old City – I made this NYC themed zine for the NY Art Book Fair last year and there are only 5 copies left. This is probably my favorite zine and the best thing I have done since Get Your Kicks. I would get it while you still have a chance.
  • Arts – Arts is a collection of black and white portraits of artists with their art on the opposite page. It includes a ton of amazing artists like Molly Crabapple, Buff Monster, Lamour Supreme, Nick & Penelope Gazin and a ton of others. But (I assume because of the lack of nudity) it didn’t sell very well. I was really disappointed because I am very happy with the zine. You can now get it 25% off.
  • Public  – My public nudity zine has sold pretty well but it’s fairly new so I have plenty of copies left. So no rush getting one of the last copies and no sale either. It’s a pretty fun zine though.
  • Unrealized Projects – This is my newest effort. Three black and white zines, limited to 50 copies, with a signed/numbered insert packaged in a black envelope for just $12. I have about half of these left after the NY Art Book Fair.
  • Limited Editions On Sale!

So yeah! Go buy some stuff and help me get ready for the launch of my new book. I want these zines out of my office!
