Dolphins Picture Fun Time

So once again it is your favorite post of the week! Terrible point and shoot pictures of a bunch of dudes wearing aqua watching sports!  The Dolfans NYC meet up last Sunday was pretty much the most fun one of the year.  It was less packed than usual thanks to the Christmas holiday and a humiliating defeat of the Bears, but having a little room to breathe was almost a nice change of pace and the bar was still very full of Dolphins fans.  The team beat the Oakland Raiders solidly and we actually could enjoy ourselves instead of chewing our nails off.  It was a good day.

I also wanted to mention a story about a Dolphins fan who saved my ass last night.  As you know I am in Miami. On the trip here I grabbed the wrong USB cord.  I figured other people would have one but it seemed like no one did.lI needed to turn in images by the morning and I didn’t know what I would do so last night in a panic I drove around to different stores including a 24 hour Wallgreens and a 24 hour CVS. Neither of them had what I needed.  When I got to the CVS I had pretty much given up. The guy told me about a Walmart almost an hour away but I had only slept 2 hours in the last 48 and I didn’t know if I could make the drive. As I was leaving CVS I saw some random Miami Dolphins related crap at the register and I bought it.  He asked me if I was a Dolphins fan and he and I had a long conversation about the Dolphins ending with me inviting him to NYC for a Jets Vs Dolphins game and more importantly it ended with him opening a scanner that they sold in the store and letting me borrow the USB cable that came with it. It was amazing and he saved my ass.  He told me he would have never done that for a Jets fan. One of the good things about sports is that you have friends everywhere you don’t even know about.

Click here to see all the pictures from last weeks Dolfans NYC meeting at Third and Long. And hopefully because I have a USB cord I can start getting actual party pictures from Miami up on this site! Go Dolphins!

Thanksgiving Football

I ate so much food today after being horribly sick for the last few days. I had food poisoning and didn’t really eat anything for 24 hours. Today I stuffed myself completely and sat down on the couch to watch three straight football games with my family.  My dad’s Cowboys lost and now I am busy rooting against the Jets. It’s good that I can still enjoy football despite the fact that the Miami Dolphins are fucking ruined. The team is so hurt and they lost to the damn Bears last Thursday. They are now 5 and 5 and have pretty much no shot at the playoffs.  That being said last Thursday wasn’t all horrible.

Dolfans NYC threw a big party for the Thursday night game and we had a HUGE crowd out.  We were doing it as a fundraiser for the Miami Dolphins Foundation and we raised over $500 for the charity. It was a lot of fun… at least until the game started and we found out the Dolphins offense was so badly wounded that they couldn’t score a single point.  It was disastrous… but the week got better…

My Dolfans NYC partner Michelle used our weekend off to take a coworkers offer to sneak us into a taping of CBS NFL halftime show where we got a chance to meet Dan Marino.  Dan Marino is pretty much my fucking hero.  When I was 8 I made a Dan Marino puppet for a school project. When I was 20 I went to Miami to see the Dolphins retire his number. When I was 27 I got his number tattooed to my arm.  I shoot a lot of celebrities doing this website and other than Bill Murray I never get very excited about it. But meeting Dan Marino was pretty intense.  I got to talk to him for a second, shake his hand and take some photos with him.  I even asked for an autograph. You guys would have thought it was really cute.

Anyway, the Bengals are driving on the Jets and I gotta go hang out with my family so I am going to go but you can click here to see the photos from the Dolfans NYC fundraiser at Third & Long.  And then check below for the bonus pics of me and Daniel Constantine Marino Jr, the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Sunday’s DolfansNYC Meet Up

Yesterday I threw another Miami Dolphins party at Third & Long like I do for every Dolphins game. If only I could throw a weekly dance party that is as successful as the DolfansNYC events because we get this shit popping. Seriously. The game this week is on Thursday against the Bears and I know a TON of people from Chicago and they all love the Bears so I have a feeling my photos from our Thursday night game will feature some NYC nighlife cats.

This week we won the game and we scored a lot so we were singing the fight song up a storm. It was pretty amazing. That being said, the Dolphins had their starting and back up quarterbacks injured… possibly out for the year… and we also had injuries to our best offensive and defensive players. So the win was a bit bitter. Still there were shots all around and at least we won the game. If we lost it I would still be in my room crying right now.

Anyway, I know most of you you don’t care about this stuff, but here are my point and shoot photo from the Dolfans NYC meet up and I hope that if any Dolphins fans are out there that you will join us on Thursday night at Third and Long for the Bears game. Go Dolphins!

More Bad Photos Of Dolphins Fans

Now it’s time for your weekly favorite update! Pictures of my Dolfans NYC meet ups taken with my little point and shoot digital camera! Not only are the pictures totally boring but they are poorly shot too! It’s like a wonderful double bonus. And speaking of double bonuses you get two updates for the price of one today!

Last week I was so upset about the Dolphins getting screwed by the refs and losing the the Pittsburgh Steelers that I didn’t bother posting any photos because I couldn’t even think about football.  This week I was over joyed, to put it mildly, that the Dolphins beat the Cincinnati Bengals that I even learned how to spell the word Cincinnati. Why the hell would they put two Ns in it? That’s just crazy.

Anyway, both meet ups were a lot of fun. We had good crowds even though the Pittsburgh game was on TV and the bar manager Curtis had his birthday on Sunday.  We also got new T-shirts.  Good times all around. So let’s just get to the photos.

Click here to see the pictures from the meet up two Sundays ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And click here to see the pictures from last Sunday’s meet up against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This Week In DolfanNYC Pictures – 10.17.10

It’s that time of week again where I post photos of my secret world of Miami Dolphins fandom.  I know how much you love looking at a bunch of random dudes dressed up in aqua and orange and yelling at a TV screen. It’s pretty exciting.  This was a good week though. First of all we won, which of course is the only thing that really matters.  But it was also a good week because my parents were in town and they got to comes see the little community I built. A few years ago there was no place for Dolphins fans to go but with the help of my friend Michelle we started this DolfansNYC club and we have a Facebook group with over 600 members and we pack the bar Third and Long every week. As a group we bought over 60 tickets to the Dolphins game against the New York Jets.  An we also raise money for charity and have raised over $1000 after only 6 weeks of the season.

In short it is one of the more successful things I do in my life and one of the only positive things (in the Puritanical sense of the word) that I do with my life. My parents know about the naked girls and the party pictures, and they are proud that I have my own business, but they don’t exactly love everything about it. I am just glad I could show them the Dolphins club and give them something they can feel good about feeling proud about if that makes any sense.  I mean my dad raised me on football and that is one of the few things he and I really share still and some of my earliest football memories were sitting on the couch next to my mother’s father watching the Redskins.  My dad and I both played high school football and my mom still calls me every time the Dolphins win.  It just means a lot to me to share this with them.

Anyway, I know you don’t really care about these photos, but I figure it shows you another side of my life you might not see all the time. So click here to check out the photos from last Sunday. I shot them all with my new point and shoot Leica C-Lux 3. Since the quality of these pictures aren’t super important it’s a lot easier just to bring a tiny camera and call it a day.

NFL Fail

It has taken me nearly a week to even think about posting these photos. Last Monday my Miami Dolphins lost in the worst fashion I have ever seen. They lost by 27 points to the New England Patriots in a game they were winning on both offense and defense. Somehow in one game they had a punt blocked, a field goal blocked for a touch down and had a kick off returned for a touch down.  Add in a late interception for a touchdown and the game was a blow out despite the Dolphins pushing the Patriots around the whole game. I have never seen anything like it my life.  NFL Betting on something like that happening you would get 10000000000:1 odds.  It crippled me.  Luckily the Dolphins have bye week this week and I can take some time away from weeping in a corner of a sports bar because of fucking football. At least we have raised a bunch of money for charity this year.

Now despite the horrible loss, I did take  some pictures before this disaster befell us.  You should click here if you want to see the photos. And of course, if you are a New Yorker interested in watching Dolphins games with us you should click here.

Monday Night Football

Well guess what, I have no updates for you today. You know why? Because I care about professional football more than my job.  Pretty retarded right? Yeah. Seriously, if the Dolphins lose tonight it pretty much means our season is over by the first week of October and I can just go ahead and shoot myself now instead of suffering through another 13 weeks.  But then again if we win tonight it will be clear we are the greatest team to ever play the game of football and I will go out and have sex with the first stranger who looks at me the wrong way. Party forever.  Either way I am not doing any fucking work today so instead you get to watch these videos.

The first one is by this asshole Patriots fan Paul “Fitzy” Fitzgerald who I run into in real life once in a while. The guy is clearly some sort of commie bastard fuck but he seems pretty down on his Pats so I’ll take it.  The second video is the intro to the greatest Monday Night Football game ever played where the 1985 Bears lost their only game to Danny Marino and the Miami Dolphins. Yes I was too young to remember this game… but I do remember when the Wildcat embarassed the hell out of the Patriots who had not lost in 21 regular season games, so you get to watch that too.  Enjoy and fuck the Patriots, fuck Tom Brady and fuck Boston.

Fuck The Jets

I don’t really have anything to say. Sunday was a travesty and one of the worst days of my life.

I hope that Rex Ryan gets nut cancer, Braylon Edwards gets drunk and crashes his car into Bart Scott, Darrelle Revis gets AIDS and Mark Sanchez finally comes out of the closet. No wait, I’m sorry, that is fucked up.  I didn’t mean to sound homophobic, but I hope the 8 year old Sanchez is molesting finally gets the nerves to call the cops.  And I wish all of these things at once on that douche bag Fireman Ed.

Augh.  Just fucking click here to look at the pictures from Sunday’s Dolfans NYC party at Third & Long. And if you care you can always check out DolfansNYC.com for more exciting NYC related Dolphins news and adventure.

Ps. Yes, for the record I don’t wish any of those things on the Jets but if they don’t win another game ever, for the rest of time, I will be very, very happy about that.

Oh No! It’s Football Season!

Hello, my name is Igor and I am a professional football fan.

I hate to do this to you guys, but it’s that time of year again: football season. If you meet me 8 months out of the year you would probably never guess that I cared about football, much less base my entire well being on the success of the Miami Dolphins.  Why the Dolphins? I have no idea. I am from DC. I should be a Skins fan. I think my dad being a Cowboys fan and growing up in DC made it so I couldn’t like either of those rival teams. Some time around 1988 I picked the Dolphins and I have stuck to it.

If you didn’t know by now I am not a causal fan.  I am obsessed. I am a 30 year old man who collects football cards. I own a pair of Ricky Williams cleats and most oddly I run the New York City Miami Dolphins fan club, Dolfans NYC. This is a club with over 500 members who meet at a Murray Hill sports bar called Third and Long every Sunday.  I lead the crowd in chants and the Dolphins fight song. It is really really weird. Last Sunday I lost my voice screaming in a bar.

Now how does this effect you? Well I will try to limit my posts to one or less a week for the next 17 weeks.  We have a bye week and I am going out of town next weekend so you are down to a maximum of 15 Dolphins related posts… unless of course we make the play offs…

Anyway, moving on I just wanted to drop this one poorly shot gallery from week one of the Dolphins season at Third and Long sports bar. And for the record we won beating the Buffalo Bills which was nice since I grew up hating them more than any other team.  That of course has been replaced with my hatred of the NY Jets but we will save that tale for week 3.  Go Dolphins!

Click here to see the photos from the week one Dolfans NYC meeting at Third and Long.
