Prix Photo 2009

Just a quick update with some non party, non nude work I did….

I shot all the photos for the website for this photo contest.  There is a poster too, but I haven’t seen it yet.  I will get an image of that when I have one.  I photographed all my cameras for fun a while back.  I blogged about it here.  These Swiss guys found the photo on Flickr and liked it and wanted me to redo it.  I did, and then they paid for my rent for two months.  I love them.

Anyway, the photo old from Flickr is below and the website with the new shots is here.  The last of Sundance goes up in about ten minutes and god willing my gallery software is going to stop fucking with me and we will have photos from the Vice party on Wednesday, Webster Hall on Friday and 2 hours at the Comic Con on Sunday.  I will put them all up tomorrow if they have been uploaded by then.  See you soon.

Obama To America: Get Your Own Damn Fries

The Boston Phoenix did something that should have been done a long time ago… They went through Obama’s audio book and pulled some hilarious audio.  According to the Pheonix the samples are from Obama doing an impersonation of his friend Ray who enjoys a colorful phrase or two.  Phrases like “You know that guy ain’t shit.  Sorry ass motherfucker ain’t got nothing on me.” and “There are white folks, and then there are ignorant motherfuckers like you.”  It is pretty brilliant.  These would have made for such good viral videos during the campaign.  At least someone needs to start working on a really great Obama soundboard.

Anyway, since I don’t know how to make soundboards and I don’t do clever video editing I turned to the easiest meme creator possible and I made an Obama YTMND site out of my favorite quote and an amazing photo.  Play the quote below and then click the photo to enjoy  my phenomenal new site.

Flavorwire Extras

Before I went to Sundance my friend Leah emailed me about doing some pro-bono work shooting interviews for the Flavorpill blog Flavorwire. When I met her over 2 years ago she a contract employee for Fpill and now she is the managing editor Flavorpill New York. I am pretty proud of her. Anyway, that is not at all the point, the point was I didn’t know if I would have any time, but I thought it would be good to get them on my resume and get some celebrity shots in the process. I emailed the Sundance project head and told her I might be available… I never heard back from her. I talked to Leah later and she told me they had found someone.

When I got to Sundance I found out I was that someone. The absinthe I was working for loaned me out to Flavorpill to do some cross promotional shots. (Which is why you will notice some green hats in some of the pictures…) I have to give a shout of to my partner in crime the charismatic Bess Devenow who did all the interviews and wondered around Park City with me. I shot a lot of photos and obviously not all of them made the interviews so I figured I would post the best of the rest here.

Oh yeah, and two things to point out about the interviews.
1) During the Zach Gilford interview Paris Hilton decided take a break from whatever she was doing at the MySpace Cafe and come sit down next to me to have a smoke. It was the third time in 3 days that I had seen her. She was following me everywhere!
2) Bobcat Goldthwait is fucking amazing. I don’t think I have ever heard him talk without screaming. He still sounds the same, only less loud.

I know I posted these already but here are the links to the interviews:

Jessie Lee Photos For Deviant Nation

A long while ago I shot a bunch of photos for my friend and Adult Video Award nominee Jessie Lee for the soft core adult site Deviant Nation.  Anyone who is a fan of this site surely knows who she is.  When we shot these photos I sort of feel we bonded.  We hung out for several hours and went to get food after.  It was a good time.  It was the first time I have shot an official set for an adult site since I did a couple sets for Suicide Girls over 5 years ago.

So Jessie Lee’s first set finally went up yesterday.  It has had a pretty good response on the site.  We shot another set together and when that gets up I am going to take a few of the best photos and put them up in a mini gallery.  I wish I could post them all, cause some of them are really great, but I guess you are just going to have to sign up for a Deviant Nation account to see them.  It’s pretty cheap.  In the mean time you just get this one sample shot below.  Sorry.

10 Links

I got a big photo job today and I am working on that for most of the day. But it is keeping me from having to get a job for a few more weeks and keep me in LA for a few extra days next week. I signed up for unemployment today which was a first for me. Still tragically upset about the fucking Dolphins. So let’s take a break from all the party photos and have 10 links that could possibly change your life.

1. I have a Twitter account. I am not exactly sure why, but I am told it is super important. Follow me or something.

2. I still have a Facebook group. I mentioned this before, but no one has really use this for anything, so go have a conversation or post some pictures or something. Once again, I have been told this is important.

3. I need money, you need a website. Isn’t it time you got a real website and quit that live journal or blogger bullshit? My host gives me money if you go to them after clicking on this link. They are good and cheap and I really need some money now that I am unemployed. Thanks. I also make money if you sign up to look at naked tattooed girls. Here, here, here, here and of course here.

4. Hipster Runoff is fucking redic. I am not sure why no one told me about this site before, but it is sort of out of control. What is going on with the world? And how does this site exist?

5. I am not sure if you guys are following this, but this homicidal santa story severely needs to be made into a movie. It would be far scarier than another Saw sequel.

6. I was just talking about this episode of This American Life about people who scam Nigerian 419 scammers. It is really amazing, so I figured I would post it here. It starts off talking about Hockey, but most of the episode is about getting even with email scammers.

7. I know the Dolphins lost, but I went to the Jets/Dolphins game last week, before they got killed, and it was magical. This is probably the best video about the Dolphins that has ever been on the internets. It is 15 minutes long and about football, but you should watch it anyway. It made me cry a little bit.

8. This link is super not safe for work, but did you know that scene kids are constantly sending each other naked pictures of each other and then posting them online for other scene kids to see? It is sort of insane, and it makes me wish that all this shit existed when I was 18.

9. This is god damned amazing. I think I would start drinking if I had one of these.

10. This might be easily the hottest video I have ever seen. I really only had 8 links, but I clicked over to Boing Boing and I found these last two. Sue me.

And that’s it. I’m out. See you guys after I finish this photo project. Oh, and for completely no reason, here is a picture I took of some pigeons.

Introducing Teddy Blanks

As you may know, I managed a band called the Gaskets for 5 years. They are currently taking a break, possibly forever. Since the break lead singer Teddy Blanks, who’s birthday just happens to be today, has been working on new music. He has about 5 or 6 songs that he has done very rough demos, but he recently bought a studio mic and has been recording some better quality demos. One of my favorite songs that he has done was called “The Itch” which is a song based on a New Yorker article. The article was about a woman who contracted HIV and developed an itch on the inside of her head. She would wake up at night bleeding from scratching her head in her sleep. One night she scratched into her brain. The article was horrifying and one of my favorite New Yorker stories ever. Teddy made a great song out of it. I decided to send the song to the author of the article and he loved it. The New Yorker contacted Teddy and I last week about it and Teddy did a new demo, set up a myspace page and the New Yorker blog wrote about the song. So check out the blog here. And his Myspace page here.

He is currently working on a solo album which he starts recording in December and is working with Cobra Krames on a 4 song EP collaboration. Their first song comes out on a Krames Mix Tape to be released in the hopefully near future. I will certainly be blogging about that.

60.

60 is the magic number.  60 Democratic senators would give them a filibuster proof majority.  According to 538 they have a 32% chance of doing that.  Let’s make that number go up.  Move On sent me this link where you can donate to several of the swing senators campaigns.  There are two big ones they don’t list though.  Al Franken of MN and Ronnie Musgrove of MS.  Now, I am not sure I would really love to see Al Franken with any sort of actual power, it would drive Republicans out of their minds and he is just barely up in the polls.  He could use your donation.  Musgrove is not on the Move On list probably because he is a bigot and a religious zealot.  That being said he is from Mississippi so what do you expect and at least he caucuses Democratic…  I guess. I can’t bring myself to do it but, you can donate to him here.  Oh you can also help get rid of Ted Stevens in Alaska by donating to Mark Begich here.

Get on this now. I just donated $100.

Unnecessary Rant.

Well this week was the biggest waste of time in my life.  I was going to go to LA if I could get the plane tickets for free, I did not.  I was going to go to Chicago and just pay for the tickets, but I did not.  I was going to go to Philly, but I decided I shout get things done.  I did not go to Philly or get anything done.  I was completely excited about my new camera and I wanted to do all these photo shoots, but I only did one.  I did it a full week ago and I haven’t even looked at the photos.  I didn’t clean my room which is a disaster and is probably one of the leading causes of my complete inability to get anything done.  I am fully depressed, I haven’t seen my friend Joe’s new movie yet, and I have watched 18 hours of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, which is not quality time spent.  I didn’t go out several nights and on two days I did not even leave my house.  I got nothing done on this site, and I didn’t even bother to pay my bills, not because I don’t have the money, but because I am too lazy to write checks.  The Dolphins also lost today which is quite upsetting in itself.  I cannot function as a human right now.  Starting tomorrow, my job moves to Jersey City which is most likely going to be hell.  I don’t even know where it is.

Oh, and on top of that I am having serious issues uploading photos to my server so the one decent update I do have you can’t even see.  I am fucking upset. FUCK.

Here are some links to entertain you with.

I’m On TV!

I once played an evil villain in a music video so I am used to playing the bad guy role.  Tomorrow I am going to be on Good Morning America talking about my YouTube video that teaches kids to cheat and suggests they try it in a very tongue in cheek way.  I thought it was big when I got a line in an LA Times article, but GMA gets like 5 million viewers a day.  I am sure they are going to edit my interview until I sound like I am some horrible guy corrupting the youth of America, but it is only a very small part of a section on kids teaching kids to cheat online.  I will probably only be on it for 15 seconds, but still, it is amusing.  I will talk more about it tomorrow.  I will also be posting the photos from the Alumni party at Arlo & Esme last night tomorrow.  In the mean time I just need to go to sleep so I can wake up early and watch it.

Since I talk about my web site in the video, and I assume there will be a bunch of new people coming to my site tomorrow here are a few links of things that I like on this site.  For those of you who haven’t seen them, check them out too.
