So I meant to post these a while ago but I sort of completely forgot about them.

The first night I was in Miami I crashed with my friend Brendan who was DJing for Lady Gaga. His label got him this huge hotel room, except that his set time was at 2am and he had to leave for the air port at 6am so he did not get to use it. I however did. Thanks Interscope!

Anyway, Lady Gaga was playing at the gayest of gay clubs called Score in South Beach. I have been to a lot of gay parties in NYC, but like, these dudes were all tan and wearing Abercrombie. These guys were all straight during the work day… either that or they were total bears and all hairy and bald and out of control. It was pretty much a gay frat party. That being said Lady Gaga pretty much killed it and I got to shoot some fun stuff and play around with long exposures and stuff. The strobe lights made things tough, but I got some interesting stuff anyway. Check it.

So after a weekend break I am back to my SXSW images.  After this I have three more galleries which should all be up tomorrow and we will be done with it all.  This was the area at the event I spent most of my time.  Rony was doing his photobooth back here, the product wall was in here and there was Jenga and an open bar.  There are a lot of images in here of people getting free Sansa Mp3 players.  Part of my job was to document the gifting, but most of the images are just people sort of hanging out.  Oh yeah.  There was also this really great Elk on the wall that everyone wanted a picture with.  See for yourself.

So the main reason I was hired to cover this event in Texas was to get pictures of bands and notable people standing in front of a wall. These are called product walls or “step and repeat” walls. These photos are then sent to the sponsors for marketing purposes and such.  I did this at Sundance and I am doing it again in Miami.  It is not the most creative photography, but it is actually pretty fun.

Anyway, there are roughly 10,000 bands in these photos and you can figure out who they are for yourself.

Brad Walsh had a show/dance party for his portraits from the last few years. His apartment was completely packed and there were gift bags and free drinks and good times and such. Unfortunately it was so packed that it was sort of hard to look at all of Brads photos. I checked most of them out though. While I have never seen the show, Brad’s boyfriend Christian Siriano from Project Runway hosted and pretty much every girl/gay there asked me to take a photo of them with him. I sort of slacked on that though and spent most of the time talking to Josh Madden who as it turns out knows many of my old DC friends and many of my new NYC friends. We both got our first tattoos at the same shop and he owned the record I put out when I was 15. Very weird. Anway, I had a lot of fun and then I ate a lot of food and went home and failed to watch the new episode of Lost because my internet was fucking up. This internet issue is the same reason updates have been slack of late. I have a pretty good update for tomorrow though if I can get my shit together in time.

Diablo Cody won the Oscar for best screenplay.  Everyone seems so excited about the fact that she used to be a stripper.  Like it was so amazing that a former stripper could write a screen play.  I sort of feel like I need to come to the defense of sex workers everywhere.  Just because you are sexy for money, does not mean you are a waste of life.  That being said, I thought Juno had some of the worst, most unrealistic, corn ball dialogue I have ever heard.  And the idea that she would be even nominated for an award is fucking astounding.  Well, at least now she’s famous and I have a reason to post these naked photos of her.

Way back in January when I was at Sundance I photographed an alumni event for NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. They asked me not to put up any images until they put theirs online. They did. So now you get to see them. It was only two hours work and it paid for my plane tickets and I got to eat some pretty amazing food at Robert Redfords’s restaurant. There were some NYU Alumni celebs in attendance like Clark Gregg who directed the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke, Jason Ritter, actor and son of the late John Ritter, Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck who wrote and directed Half Nelson, and Marley Shelton from Sin City and Grindhouse. I was talking to Marely Shelton for probably 15 minutes before realizing she was a reasonably famous actress. I knew she looked familiar but I couldn’t really place it. I started telling her about shooting celebrities holding products for gifting lounge things and told me how weird it was for her to have to hold the products for pictures. We talked for a long time, defiantly longer than anyone else at the party. She seemed like a rad lady, but I still couldn’t place where I knew her. When I got back to the hotel one of the girls working working with me at the gifting lounge told me who she was. Neat. Anyway, other than a few famous faces, these photos are pretty uneventful.

So I recently posted about how I took the official Agyness Deyn Wikipedia photo… well I am back and this time I took the photo of my personal hero, Takeru Kobayashi.  I have personally witnessed him break the hot dog eating record in 2004, break it again in 2006, and I finally saw him lose to the great Joey Chestnut.  It was a sad day for Kobayashi, but a great day for America.  Anyway, last year at the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest I had back stage passes and I took a shot of Kobayashi massaging his jaw that he supposedly injured (likely story).  We all knew he was just afraid of  Chestnut and making excuses… but I snapped this shot while he was rubbing his face… I put it on my Flickr account and a Wikipedia editor contacted me and now you can see my photo on the official Takeru Kobayashi Wikipedia page.  I guess Flickr has been good for something.  Hip hip hurray!

With Fleshbot linking me all the time, I might as well return the favor… Okay, maybe it is not quite a favor since they send about 10x the traffic, but still… some disgusting news from Fleshbot.  Evidently there is a Gene Simmons sex tape out.  It features some Australian chick named Elsa with very giant fake boobs.  In the background they are fucking to Foreigner which is probably the best thing about the tape.  Honestly, the only reason I would ever, ever, want to see Gene Simmons in any sort of sex act would be to see what the motherfucker could do with his 10 inch tongue.  She goes down on him, but he doesn’t even have the decency to return the favor.
