Freakshow Deluxe @ The Gathering Of The Juggalos
When I heard that my friend Angel Beau just happened to be feature dancing in Dayton, OH just 90 minutes from the Gathering of the Juggalos I got really excited. She hit me up to let me know that she was going to be performing with the LA based sideshow crew Freakshow Deluxe. Angel is one of my favorite humans and I was excited I got to show her the weirdness that is the Gathering of the Juggalos.
I am trying to get as many photos as possible up before I leave town so I am going to make this quick but I just wanted to give you a quick breakdown of some of the acts in order so if you are looking at the massive gallery of images you can follow along. They came out with a group grinding act followed by a blockhead act and then into walking/jumping on broken glass. There was an escape artist act which is always really fun followed by Angel walking on knives which I saw her do with the Suicide Sirens ages ago. After that reverend Tommy Gun lifted a heavy chandelier with his ears, nipples and, I swear to god, his penis. It was covered for most of the show but there was a horrifying reveal quickly that I missed photographing. Next Miss Malice swallowed a balloon, there was a bed of nails act involving another photographer, and more painful feats involving animal traps. Let’s see what else? There was a whip act which is pretty scary up close and a human pin cushion act which always freaks people out. And then the act ended with some fire eating and possibly my favorite part when Tommy Gunn attached a bunch of fireworks to his stomach and set them off. I think I still have some shrapnel in my eye. That’s it.
