Buy Driven By Boredom A Christmas Present

Tis the season for giving, and I give you guys a lot. Yeah, I make money doing the nightlife and I make some money in advertizing but most of the naked girls and the crazy adventuring I do for the love of it. In the last year I have been working less and trying to focus on a few projects. I am redoing the site, working on my first photo book, working on a series of food related zines, adding a video component to DBB and shooting as many naked girls as possible. All of this stuff is going to be awesome, but none of it is making any money. I am of course working enough to pay my rent and get by and everything is good as far as that stuff goes, BUT I want to be shooting more film and doing more stuff to make this site, and my Tumblr, more awesome.

So I came up with an idea. I always see these cam girls and porn stars with wish lists and I figured if dudes will buy them stuff maybe I can get dudes to buy me stuff. But I don’t want underwear or books or DVDs, I want supplies so I can keep making rad stuff for this site. I also figured that you should get something back for your rad donation.

So here’s the deal: I set up an Amazon wishlist and  if you buy something on it, you get something back.  If you buy me some Polaroid film, you get a naked girl Polaroid signed by both me and the naked girl. If you buy me some 35mm film you get a signed 8×10 35mm print. You can pick if you want a naked girl or not. You don’t get to pick the actual photo but you can at least sugest what kind of image you want.  If you buy me a box of 5 Hour Energy I will give you a digital print I guess. That seems to make sense somehow.

So yeah, buy this website a present, I will keep working on great content and you guys will get some “art”. Seems like a good idea right? Oh, and don’t forget… Driven By Boredom has a store now!  More on that later…

Ps. No DBB Christmas cards this year unfortunately but if you buy something I will send you an old one!

Hi (didn’t see your name on my crippled brouser),

I happened on your website by one of those blindsiding freaks of the Internet. Gotta’ admit what got me here was to see about being driven by boredom, what that’s like on a website. But I don’t get the feeling you are. Instead, an appealing quality coming between your lines of an unposed and candid humanity. So I’m right with you, and with a couple of (off the wall?) things on your narrative. I’m a poet, so they’re short flashes of poetry.

First, one on boredom. Yeah, a big drag for a lot of us. If you read it out loud, it gives you kind of an afterburner of power and beauty that carry the meaning.

    Working Conversation

“Nearly done?” “Oh, yes, I’m free at ten.
At ease, relief from summer heat, and then
tomorrow all over again. Dumb to the day!”

“But every second the universe is fresh,
reborn before our eyes! We just connect
the seconds in habits, and lose the juice in squeeses.”

Both are on, but each is wrapped
in their own present . . . exclusive exclusion.
    How about it open? Reaching

to touch each other so novel shows old,
accustomed comes current, until we see
    a shadowy synthesis forming, blinking

and slowly shifting into the light.

The second one is on naked, not just girls, but anyone. It’s from an East Indian poet named Sri Aurobindo, an excerpt from his epic, “Savitri” [a woman’s name]. It was written in the 1900s, so you have to roll with the dated style of expression to get his amazing insight. The speaker in these lines is who some people would call God or the Divine and he (or she) is talking to Savitri, the main character and the heroine of what Sri Aurobindo calls “the adventure of consciousness”. Dig it. It’s a bit longer than my poem and if, when you start, it seems too long you can cut to the line beginning “In the nudity . . .” and still click on it, though less. Much more than my poetry, “Savitri” is EXPLOSIVELY more when you read it out loud.

In the heart of my creation’s mystery
I will enact the drama of thy soul,
Inscribe the long romance of Thee and Me.
    I will pursue thee across the century;
Thou shalt be hunted through the world by love,
    Naked of ignorance’ protecting veil
And without covert [cover] from my radiant gods
No shape shall screen thee from my divine desire.
Nowhere shalt thou escape my living eyes.
In the nudity of thy discovered self
In a bare identity with all that is,
Disrobed of thy covering of humanity,
Divested of the dense veil of human thought,
Made one with every mind and body and heart,
Made one with all nature and with self and God,
Summing in thy single soul my mystic world
I will possess in thee my universe,
The universe find all I am in thee.
Thou shalt bear all things that all things may change,
Thou shalt fill all with my splendour and my bliss,
Thou shalt meet all with my transmuting soul.

Then the lines start to snap open the envelope of structure and form. And take you into extremes, intensities of experience that make everything else look wimpy by comparison . . . another couple of pages that, if you want to see them, ask me and I’ll tell you where they are in the book you can read on the Internet. To me this is what naked, in its core, is all about.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays,

    Ron
