Six Six Sick – 6.3.08

Ho ho! What have we here? New photos taken with a new camera. Thanks to my economic stimulus check (thank you George Bush!) and a birthday present from my parents, I am currently in possession of a brand new shiny Nikon D300 and a 5 year damage warrantee! I can bring my new fantastic camera out with me and when I fall out of a DJ booth and smash it into a the 5 inch heel of a transgendered go-go dancer I can send it in to get fixed free of charge. Anyway, this camera can do so much that I have not even begun to figure it out. All I have learned so far is how to change the ISO, Shutter Speed and FStop which is pretty much the only thing you could do on the Vietnam-era Pentax that I learned photography on 12 years ago. I had to get another photoblogger to help me figure out why my flash wasn’t syncing right. Anyway, this has tremendous possibilities. I am pretty excited with the results. These photos look dope, but they are warmer and more underexposed than normal. I need to play with the white balance a bit and get used to the beautiful screen. It makes everything look TOO good. So I don’t realize how underexposed shit is. The other problem is that the files are so big now that is is taking way longer to manage them. I am going to have to come up with a new system for my photos, so I can put away my old as PC for good. Someone teach me how to use Adobe Bridge please.

Okay. I really need you guys to let me know what you think. Please look at all the photos by clicking here, and let me know in the comments section how you feel about them. Do they still look like my work? Any suggestions, comments. Thanks…

I hate to say it .. but they are just as painfully boring as your old photographs! It just goes to show that the old saying ‘its the photographer , not the camera’ is totally spot on right !! I dont think ive ever been that intrigued by a single one of your photographs… it pains me to see kids not knowing how to use a camera and shoot anyways.. and asking for help with something as simple as bridge(cant believe you dont use it already!!??) is just bad.

Ps .. Canon people are Nazis for one reason … they are better digital cameras!!! look into specs… your camera isnt even full frame censor ….

    @ comrade

well nikon makes the d3 which features the full frame censor….

i am not exactly a kid, and i do know how to shoot
i spent my life shooting with film… get in a color darkroom with me and let’s see what happens.
i just don’t really know how to use photoshop, and while I am learning, I would rather be out taking photos than doing tutorials

looking at your work, its very professional and clean and all, but it is pretty much everything i hate about digital photography. i think photoshop is great for cleaning up images and doing minor adjustments. making photography look like cartoons is gross. i am envious of your ability to do it, but if i had your skills, i never would. also, your work is not intriguing… it is just silly and over produced… although clearly much stronger work than mine

the thing is, i pretty much only show my event work on here, so you really only see that. so if you think party photography is boring (which it pretty much is if you weren’t there) i completely understand.

i am trying to figure out a way to display my analog work at the moment, and that might be more interesting to you, but most of it is point and shoot stuff, and if you are obsessed with technique, you probably won’t care for it either.
