I decided I needed a place to put all of my Gathering of the Juggalos content in one place. I had 21 galleries containing over 1700 photos, plus I have some of my coverage on other sites so I created this page so you can see all of it without having to search all over the place.

I feel like I should put into words some sort of summary of the whole thing but that is easier said than done.  Basically the trip was an amazing experience. Nearly everyone I met was super nice to me. I got to drive a 30 Foot RV. I made money. I hung out with Tom Green and met Gallagher. I got to hang out with my Village Voice editor Camille. I was part of a national news story. And I got pictures that will be in my portfolio for the rest of my life.

That being said I also didn’t sleep for 4 days. I fucked up my foot. My camera is still sticky from Faygo. I chaffed my inner thighs from wearing wet jeans the whole trip. I got hit with a liquor bottle and covered in unimaginable crap shooting Tila Tequila. I mingled with some of the most unappealing people I have ever encountered. And I listened to some horrible fucking music.

But then again, I also listened to a lot of music I really enjoyed too. I was an ICP fan more than 10 years ago and as silly as the whole thing is I still sort of like some of their songs and they were really fun live. Plus I got to see Method Man, Redman and Warren G. I really enjoyed Tech N9ne’s set and even the Kottonmouth Kings were a lot of fun.  So maybe that stuff wasn’t so bad…

And as gross and as easy to make fun of as a lot of these people are, they are all very genuine kids who are nice as hell to everyone that is “down with the clown”.  These are mostly poor kids who get beat up in their redneck towns and instead of becoming punks or goths they found ICP. They may be rural as fuck and they may be “white trash” but they are not your typical rednecks. They are actually incredibly accepting. It may be just a small minority but there are juggalos of every race and every culture and no one gets any shit as long as they are “underground”. I only saw one fight the whole time I was there and it got broken up instantly. They hate people like Tila Tequila because she is mainstream, but any underground bands, no matter what they sound like, get love from 99% of the Gathering crowd.

And then again on the other hand some of these people are total scum fucks like you would believe.  A lot of these kids are fucked up all the time. I met people who got robbed and I met kids selling fake drugs. I had a kid call me a faggot and pour water on my camera and I had two people give me shit for wearing tight pants. I was totally disgusted with what they did to Tila Tequila and what kind of fucking asshole throws a full beer can at Method Man. Some of these kids should be fucking put out of their misery.

So, I have intense mixed feelings about this whole thing. Since the trip has ended I have mocked juggalos relentlessly and I have defended them wholeheartedly. I have even listened to some ICP totally unironically.  All I know is that these kids don’t give a fuck what anyone has to say about them and I have to respect that. And ultimately the culture is intensely interesting or I wouldn’t have averaged 10,000 hits a day for the two weeks.

After all that all I really know is that you should look at all these fucking pictures because they are absolutely life changing. You will be amazed, horrified even titillated and you will come away a new man.
