Lady Sovereign Breaks Down
Last night at the FUN party at Studio B Lady Sov didn’t get on stage until after 3 AM. As she was waiting to go on stage she started setting paper on fire. She got up on stage and the first thing she said was that this was the smallest crowd she had played to in “a long time”. This probably had something to do with the fact that people waited two hours for her to go on. She then played Love Me or Hate Me but she didn’t sing the choruses. Then she proceeded to say she was just here for the money. She said she was broke and didn’t want to go on. She was like “I don’t know what I am doing, what song is next?” Then she did another song and just sort of broke down. She said that she had been playing the same songs for two years and that she was sick of it. She told the audience that we couldn’t possibly understand. She then was like “fuck this, I don’t care if I don’t get paid” and walked off the stage after a quick talk with her DJ.
Now, the thing is, I could care less. I got paid to shoot the party and I only know one song by her… and she played it. I got a few pictures and was there to see her crack up. I also understand where she is coming from. The Gaskets have been playing the same songs for two years and I know none of us want to hear some of those songs every show. And they only play a few times a month. She is a young girl and was playing infront of a disappointing crowd hours after playing another show. I actually just felt bad for her. And I thought it was pretty funny. So, that was great. Everyone was pissed off and wanted their money back. They did not get it. Then I took the fucking G train home. The end.
Pictures from the show on up Sunday.

holy shit!
Hey screw that, I was there and I didn’t ask for my money back or yell at the chic. Actually I felt bad for her too. Some producers somewhere have milked her dry (and has she really ended up with no money after all that?) and now she hates what she used to love and was really talented at.
Look at all the other young female “singers” (I don’t like to mention them here since they’re all pre-fab and manufactured but you know what I mean) like the disney group, britney spears and those girls. They have far more cash and support than Lady Sovereign does and THEY’RE all cracking up, far worse.
I guess it comes down to she needs to remember what it was that made her start in the first place. Easier said than done, yeah. But it’s a shame, she’s so young and she is different, she’s funny, smart (I think…) and doesn’t dress like a pop tart. She’s got an ounce of creativity on her side, unlike them.
She’s also got to get the hell away form whoever she’s working with!
Someone yelled, “freestyle!” but shit, you have to be in the mood! But she doesn’t have to sing the same three songs if she doesn’t want to.Whoever’s managing her is going to dry her out and drop her if she doesn’t take charge first.
Lastly I guess everyone that age sort of dabbles in failure. So instead of seeing a small group that DID wait for her (tho all drunk by that point so yeah! some did yell) she saw it as another sign shits going down the toilet and gave up. After singing shit like “Bow down to your royal higness!” I wish she would try to get the thread back. She’s good enough to bother.
Lady Sovereign, don’t let the bastards get you down!

Perhaps there were some problems with the accommodations, backstage. Maybe she wanted larger bread.
So where are the pictures?
The Most Exhausted Midget In The Game…
When reader Igor wrote in this weekend to tell us that Lady Sov bailed after just two songs of her late-night set at the Pull-Out Method’s party at Studio B Friday night, it felt like the tenth time we’ve gotten……
I do feel sorry for her…but perhaps if she drank and/or self medicated less she could have some energy to deal with the stress. She was so trashed when I saw her she could not remember the lyrics. I know the hard core thing is her thing but it may ultimately be her demise.
