Once again I headed to Vegas to photograph the Adult Video News Awards aka the porn Oscars. Last year I was actually nominated for Best Photography Website but that wasn’t a category this year so I was shit out of luck. The Carrie porn parody I wrote was up for best comedy porn parody but it wasn’t marketed as a Carrie parody for some reason so I pretty much knew it had no chance. Fortunately some friends of mine picked up some big awards, Tommy Pistol won best actor for his roll in my friend Doug Sakmann’s film Evil Head. Tommy was probably the first male porn star I met and it was awesome to see him take home the award. They have been working on Evil Head for like 6 years so it was awesome to see it get recognized. The home girl Bonnie Rotten won female performer of the year which is pretty much the biggest award of the night. Bonnie is one of the raddest people in the business and I was so happy she won after less than two years in the business.

The AVN Week has become sort of special to me in that I met Kimberly Kane in Vegas during the awards years ago, then two years we started hanging out for the first time. Last year we broke up about two months before the awards but sort of got back together in Vegas. This year we went together and despite both of our hatred for Vegas it was nice to spend the whole week with her. I doubt we will ever officially get back together since we live 3000 miles away from each other and that didn’t work the first time, but I love that girl and I am glad to have any time with her I can get.

The Awards themselves have become more streamlined and a bit more organized the last two years but when the red carpets started the Joint wasn’t fully set up yet so all the porn stars had to hang out upstairs in the VIP lounges before they could get to their seats. A few people seemed annoyed but it was perfect for me to get a lot of photos and pull a few girls away to do some NSFW photos without too many security guards around. The Awards went smoothly with only a few bumps like a brawl in the front two rows. Also, Machine Gun Kelly performed twice and during his first performance Selena Rose got on stage and stole a stethoscope from a dwarf and showed everyone her pussy.  So yeah, that happened. Good times.
