Why Do I Live Like This – 5.6.11
The Prince Terrence/ Dances With White Girls tour continues on with a stop on Louisville, KY the night before the Kentucky Derby. When we got to the club Headliners we were told 400 people were already there. That was true, however they were there to see some band full of 40 year old dudes wearing fezzes. Seriously. The entire crowd were old people dancing like your drunk parents at a wedding. When they ended the Ok Deejays started DJing and the crowds switched over real fast. Most of the old people left and they were replaced with a hand full of 18 and 19 year old kids and several break dancers. I thought shit was going to be real awkward but about half way through Prince Terry’s set shit got a lot better. VHS or Beta DJ’d for about an hour and then Dances With White Girls took over.
By the time his set was over the fog machine had pretty much exploded, cute Kentucky girls danced on stage and we were ready for the after party. We hit a place called Z Bar until they turned off the music so Terry’s friend Rock took us, Brad from the Bronx and this girl I was flirting on to this super sketchy after hours where we were greeted by a suspiciously nice man with a scar across face which was not the only thing that reminded me of Omar from the Wire. We were taken past a hall full of what appeared to be prostitutes to a speak easy type place with a pool table and card table and lots of leather chairs and couches. The owner of the spot looked exactly like Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force a fact which I was not the first to notice as a poster of Carl hung on the wall.
After a few games of pool it became increasingly clear that we were not really wanted there and we went back to Rock’s house. At that point the sun was coming up and I drove my lady friend to her place and then I finally managed to get everyone back in the car so we could get 90 minutes of sleep before we had to hit the Kentucky Derby. All and all it was a pretty epic night.
