American Gangster was fucking awful. It was nothing but mob and gangsta film cliches. There were tons of hip hop cameos that served no purpose. T.I. who I liked in ATL just talked in his normal speech despite the film being set in 1968. On top of that they showed RZA’s Wu-Tang tattoo when they could have easily covered it. It was nearly three hours long which is basically three hours longer than it should have been. If you want to see Academy Award winning actors Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington in a movie together go rent Virtuosity, which while horrible, is significantly shorter and at least 30% more realistic. The best thing about this movie was that when I searched for “American Gangster” on youtube I found this amazing clip that I saw years ago but forgot about until just now. Watch this clip below over and over for 3 hours and save yourself $11.
